General Information
"...Throw out all the tonal intangibles, and I think there's one reason for my success: I try to make every amp I build the best one I've ever built."
--Dr. Z

Our philosophy is simple: Hand build a top quality original product, designed to last a lifetime, which becomes an extension of the players personality and sound.

We build professional quality amps; whether you're a touring professional or you never leave the house with your rig, you get the same quality amp. We use proprietary components when it's the best way to get the sound we're trying to create; but other than a custom exotic wood cabinet or faceplate for a custom order; we're not building "esoteric" amps for the sake of being esoteric...

We use the best components available to build professional quality amps at prices that are very competitive for hand-built, point-to-point wired, U.S. built amplifiers. Every amp we ship can hold it's own in "amp shootouts" anywhere, and that's been proven again and again for the past decade. In summary, Dr. Z Amplifiers and speaker cabinets are made with the finest of materials and with great attention to detail and sound.

Dr. Z Amps are built with "Z-Attitude":

  • We believe "Made in U.S.A." should mean "only the best",
  • We know "Close Enough" isn't, and you should
  • Compromise Nothing if it hurts the tone.
